Bio:
Mikuláš Černota, PhD. is assistant professor at the University of Economics in Bratislava. He is specialised in the interdisciplinary studies of natural
resources management, environmental migration, development issues and climate change adaptation. He was a member of the Managing Committee of the COST
Action IS 1101 ‘Climate Change and Migration: Knowledge, Law and Policy, and Theory’ as well as research groups of the Finnish Forest Research Institute
in Helsinki, École Nationale du Génie Rural des Eaux at des Forets in Nancy and Swedish Agricultural University in Uppsala. His focus is on the current
challenges of the application of the principles of sustainable management to Earth resources and human relations to conserve and economise these resources.
A special focus of his research are forest ecosystems and mountanious areas worldwide. He also teaches courses of Economics of Global Environmental Changes at the
University of Liége. Meanwhile serving as national delegate of the Slovak Republic to various EU Research Framework Programme Committees on Climate Change, Energy
and Mobility and Climate Resilient Europe (Mission on Adaptation).
He supervised more than 100 bachelor and master theses, his students are working in various international institutions such as European Parliament, UNFCCC, European Commission,
Red Cross, Embassies around the world, governmental institutions, international NGOs, etc. He continues to teach on the basis of critical thinking and Socratic dialogue,
serving in science diplomacy initiatives and encouraging for sustainable human-nature relations fit in the 21st century conditions.
